2. What data we collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:
- Account data: name, email address, and authentication information when you sign up.
- Class and homework data: class names, join codes, assignment titles, questions, expected answers, and tolerance settings.
- Student work data: student names (as entered by the student), answers submitted, practice activity, test attempts, and scores.
- Usage and device data: IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and usage telemetry to help us maintain and improve the service.
- Support data: messages you send to our support team.
3. How we use your data
We use personal data for the following purposes:
- Creating and managing your account and subscription.
- Providing the homework, practice, test, and results features of the service.
- Keeping the service secure and preventing fraud or abuse.
- Improving the product and fixing issues.
- Responding to support requests.
- Sending essential service messages and, where you consent, product updates.
Our legal bases under GDPR include performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent, and legal obligation.
4. Data sharing
We share personal data only with the following categories of recipients:
- Service providers: hosting, analytics, and customer support tools that help us operate the service.
- Paddle: our Merchant of Record for sales, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, and invoicing.
- Professional advisers: legal and accounting advisers where necessary.

Some of our service providers may process data outside the UK/EEA. When this happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions to protect your data.

We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterwards to fulfil legal, tax, and support obligations. When data is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.

Homework Hall is designed for classroom use. Teachers are responsible for obtaining any necessary consents from parents or guardians for their students. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 outside of a teacher-supervised school context.

We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
